Philadelphia City Council wants prosecutors fired over porn

The Philadelphia City Council is calling on the district attorney to fire three prosecutors involved in a group that exchanged sexually explicit and raunchy emails while working for the state attorney general’s office.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Thursday’s resolution passed by a voice vote, meaning each member’s vote was not officially tallied.

Councilmen David Oh and Brian J. O’Neill, both Republicans, were the only members who voted no.

The resolution targets assistant district attorneys Frank Fina, Marc Costanzo, and Patrick Blessington.

District Attorney Seth Williams has said the three have been disciplined and underwent sensitivity training.

Mayor-elect Jim Kenney, when asked whether he thinks the three should be fired, called Williams an “independent elected official” but questions how the three can do their jobs amid the scandal.
