Payday lending bill signed into law

Governor Markell will sign a measure limiting the number of payday loans people can get within a twelve month period.
House Bill 289 is scheduled to be signed by the Governor in Legislative Hall this afternoon. The bill also establishes a database to track the number of short-term loans an individual obtains during the year. It also calls for the Banking Commissioner to make a report on the prevalence of these loans to state lawmakers.
