Pascrell wins bruising battle for N.J.’s revamped 9th district

Bll Pascrell pumped his fist before the enthusiastic crowd at his victory party in downtown Paterson. With his shirt sleeves rolled up he thanked his wife Elsie, his family and supporters for keeping his name on the ballot

“My parents always taught me not to start fights, but know how to end them. Tonight we did just that,” he said.

Pascrell called the campaign unfortunate for a variety of reasons and thanked Congressman Steve Rothman for his service. He said the time has come to unite and march toward November “as we work hard to re-elect President Obama this year.”

Pascrell promised to continue reaching across the aisle and looking out for the little guy –- cops, teachers, waitresses — also veterans.
