Participate in this year’s Northwest Philly prom coverage

Everyone has a story about prom. Whether you’re the apprehensive parent sending your daughter off to her first prom with a new boyfriend, the tux shop owner with hundreds of orders to process and plenty of amusing stories to match, or the rebel who decided to skip prom altogether, we want to hear from you.

In the second week of May, NewsWorks will present a series of stories about prom season in Northwest Philadelphia. We’ll be talking to employees of salons, barbershops, suit shops and flower shops about their favorite memories of prom in their professions and we’ll be there on the day of many local proms to snap photos and video. But we can’t cover it all; that’s where you come in.

From the careful pinning of the boutonnière to the chaotic group shots in front of the house, NewsWorks wants to capture all of the prom scenes throughout Northwest Philadelphia over the next few weeks. If you send your prom photos to newsworks@whyy.org in the month of May, we’ll post it to our NW Philadelphia prom gallery on NewsWorks.

Don’t have a photo to send in? How about an essay? We’d love to hear about your favorite prom memory, your safety concerns associated with this year’s prom or your thoughts on the various costs associated with the big day. Send your essay pitch to newsworks@whyy.org and we’ll work with you to get it posted to the site.
