Pa. senators sponsor jobs legislation for minorities, women and youth
A handful of Pennsylvania senators today will announce a jobs initiative to help minorities, women and youth find work.
Sens. Lisa Boscola (D-Lehigh/Monroe/Northampton), Shirley Kitchen (D-Philadelphia), Judy Schwank (D-Berks), Christine Tartaglione (D-Philadelphia) and LeAnna Washington (D-Montgomery/Philadelphia) will announce legislation today with Dr. Thomas Rushton of the Monroe Career & Technical Institute and David Masur of PennEnvironment.
Their bills aim to create work opportunities through things like:
Tax credit incentives to encourage small businesses to provide child and adult day care alternatives
Improving school to work transition through post-secondary programs offered by community and technical colleges
Summer job alternatives for youth
PA Training Program for Marcellus Shale drilling operations
Incentives to grow women & minority-owned businesses
Green jobs employment & training program
