One arrested, one wanted in connection with Germantown bystander shooting

Philadelphia Police announced Tuesday that one man wanted in connection with Friday’s gunfire which led to a 53-year-old woman being shot while in bed inside her Morton Avenue home has been arrested.

Police said Ahmae Harris, 21, was taken into custody around 6 a.m. and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and other offenses.

Kairi Harris, 33, of the 400 block of E. Rittenhouse St. is being sought for his alleged role in the incident that left a grandmother who regularly watched neighborhood children suffering from a shot to the right side of her face.

Initial police reports indicate that the bullet came through a window and struck the woman, who was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she was still recovering on Tuesday. Outside, a silver car’s window was also shattered by the gunfire.

NBC10 reported that the gunfire came from a nearby front lawn as that car passed by; it was believed to have been involved in another shooting on nearby Mechanic Street.
