Curator’s Talk for the exhibition: Stone Carvings by Gerd Dreher

With his great attention to the detail of the natural object, Master Carver Gerd Dreher brings life and beauty to his hardstone creations. Born in 1939, in the famous gem cutting center of Idar-Oberstein, Germany, he continues the family tradition that began with his grandfather who produced objects for Faberge. Mineralogical Museum, University of Delaware, October 13th, 5 P.M.

 

 

Pastel Workshop with Linda Chatfield

Join us as we explore the qualities of various pastels and experiment by drawing objects and/or landscapes. An emphasis will be placed on understanding the possibilities and limits of the medium while developing individual design in the format. Textures, layering, mixing colors and glazing techniques will be covered. All materials will be provided. Workshop participants are encouraged to bring a basket dinner and beverage.
