Nutter, Ramsey join fight to ban high-capacity ammunition magazines

Mayor Michael Nutter and Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey will support today a ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines in conjunction with counterparts in Los Angeles, New York and Minneapolis, the Associated Press reports.

The Philadelphia pair supports a ban much like the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act from 1994, which expired 10 years later.

High-capacity ammunition magazines were used in the January shooting in Tuscon, shootings at Virginia Tech and Northern Illinois universities and killings in Binghamton, N.Y., and Fort Hood, Texas.
