November 11-13: Shop Philly design, eat Forgotten Foods, toast Frank Furness, tour Bella Vista

Philadelphia Produces Original Design (P.POD)

Opens Friday, November 11, 5-8pm. Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway. A new pop-up shop featuring items designed or made in Philly will take up residency at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Store for the holiday season. It promises to be all things “freakish, brilliant, or gorgeous” including jewelry, toys, art, and locally made specialty foods. Shop creative Philly at P.POD starting Friday, November 11, through December 31.

Festival of Forgotten Foods

Saturday, November 12, 10am-4pm. Reading Terminal Market, 12th and Filbert streets. In Reading Terminal Market’s center court, traditional regional favorite foods take over Reading Terminal Market’s Center Court. Sample forgotten foods like Paw Paw ice cream, fried oysters, catfish and waffles, and pepper pot soup. $15.95 for adults, $8.95 for kids.

Frank Furness Birthday Salute

Saturday, November 12, 5-9pm. Undine Barge Club, 13 Boathouse Row and Castle Ringstetten, 4442 Kelly Drive. Experience two of architect Frank Furness’s lessser-known but fascinating Philadelphia buildings in celebration of his 172nd birthday with Hidden City. Start with a tour of Undine Barge Club at 5pm, then move up Kelly Drive to Castle Ringstetten for a party. Tickets may be purchased online: $40; $20 for Hidden City members. 

Bella Vista Open House Tour

Sunday, November 13, 1-4pm. Bella Vista Town Watch has organized its first open house tour, showcasing the neighborhood’s interesting architecture from rowhouses to lofts. Tour participants get a free coffee at one of six neighborhood cafes. Tickets are $12 in advance online or $15 on Sunday. Tickets can be picked up or purchased at Fleisher Art Memorial, 719 Catharine Street beginning at 12:30pm. Proceeds benefit Bella Vista Town Watch.
