Northwest Philly ward backs Kane for AG
With less than a week to go before the Pennsylvania Primary, officials with the city’s 9th Ward today announced their endorsement of Kathleen Kane’s bid to become the state’s next Attorney General.
“Pennsylvania has never elected a Democrat for Attorney General and the ward committee felt Kathleen Kane has the best possible chance of defeating her Republican opponent this fall,” said Democratic Ward Leader John O’Connell in a news release.
Kane’s integrity, independence and strategies for protecting seniors, preserving the environment and weeding out public corruption also prompted the formal pledge of support from the Northwest Philadelphia ward, according to the release.
The 9th Ward covers parts of Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill.
Kane, a former prosecutor in Lackawanna County, will face former U.S Rep. Patrick Murphy of Bucks County on April 24.
The winner will face Republican hopeful Dave Freed in November’s General Election.
