North Wildwood hosts its annual BBQ and Blues festivals July 10-12

Things will be smokin’ in North Wildwood this weekend with the return of the New Jersey State Barbecue Championship and Anglesea Blues festivals.
 
The three-day outdoor combined event will see 67 competitors vying for over $10,000 in cash and prizes as they serve up their best barbecue chicken, pork, ribs and brisket. 
 
On Friday, the Roger Girke Blues Band will get the party started on the main stage, following opening ceremonies. The evening concert features Sarah Ayers with the James Supra Blues Band.
 
Saturday’s line up includes Sleeping Dogs Lie, Steve Cal Band, Blue Bone and the  Chris O’Leary Blue Band. 
 
Terry Showers and the Chosen Gospel Group will take the main stage for a Sunday Gospel Brunch.  Later, the blues festival wraps up with a performance by the Bubba Mac Blues Band.

All weekend, attendees can also pick up some tips from daily barbecue demonstrations.  Saturday and Sunday also feature an open air market and craft show.
 
Those who want to really step up their barbecue game can join Saturday’s Cooking with the Pros class ($25, advance registration required).
 
The New Jersey State Barbecue Championship Awards will take place on Sunday at  4:30 p.m.
 
Winners will advance to the invitational world barbecue championship, American Royale in Kansas City as well as the World Food Championships in Kissimmee, Fla.
