No, Widener Law isn’t hiring a potato chip taster

It may have seemed like the dream job posted for hire on the Widener jobs board, but Widener officials say the offer to earn money for tasting chips was all a mistake.

Just like any other too-good-to-be-true offer, the job of taste tester is not real.  The job was posted briefly on the Delaware law school’s online job bank system by mistake.  Assistant dean for career development LeaNora Ruffin says the job was accidentally posted during a training exercise for an employer who was trying to understand the procedures for posting  a job opening.

“That job was not real,” Ruffin said.  The post was online for about 90 minutes before the training session was completed.  It was deleted immediately at the end of that time.  “We apologize for any confusion.  We were simply trying to aid an employer with an eye for enhancing student opportunities.”

So, the bad news is that there is not apparently an immediate opening for a law student with a discerning palette, but the good news is that there may be another legitimate job opening posted in the near future.
