No fare hikes planned in SEPTA’s increased budget

SEPTA will be spending more in the upcoming fiscal year than it has in the current one. Rising costs of fuel and employee benefits factor into the 3.9 percent spending increase. But fare hikes don’t.

Since fares are only slated to increase every three years, not until July 2013 will we see another hike, according to the plan SEPTA has in place.

The Inquirer outlined SEPTA’s 2012 operating budget, which includes $1.23 billion in spending. SEPTA expects to receive about the same $575 million from Harrisburg as it did last year. Don’t start educating, SEPTA, or you’ll be seeing state cuts, too.
