N.J.’s Animal Kingdom Zoo on the market for $2.4M
A private New Jersey zoo that has endured two fires, and escaped hyenas and numerous violations is for sale.
A real estate company says $2.4 million will buy more than 40 acres of land at the Animal Kingdom Zoo in Springfield, along with $1 million worth of animals and the “opportunity of a lifetime.”
Owner Bridget Sipp was killed in a house fire at the property two years ago. Later in 2011, a second blaze killed a mother and calf giraffe, three dogs, four cats and more than a dozen exotic birds.
The facility has not renewed its state permit and has received local, state and federal violations for a number of issues, including a monkey biting a child and two hyenas escaping.
