N.J.’s acting governor out of hospital

New Jersey’s acting governor is out of the hospital a day after falling from a bicycle and breaking her wrist and elbow.

The governor’s office says Kim Guadagno was released from Jersey Shore University Medical Center at 11:15 a.m. Friday.

She is lieutenant governor and secretary of state but is currently acting governor while Gov. Chris Christie is campaigning for Republican gubernatorial candidates in other states.

The governor’s office says Guadagno never lost consciousness, so power did not have to be transferred to the next in line, state Senate President Steve Sweeney.

Spokesman Kevin Roberts says Guadagno was biking with her husband in Sea Bright on Thursday when she fell after stopping abruptly to avoid a vehicle. Another motorist called for help.
