N.J. man faces 15 years in prison in heroin ring

A Passaic County man who led a heroin supply ring has been sentenced to 15 years in state prison.

Authorities say 38-year-old Segundo Garcia’s network supplied heroin to large-scale dealers in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington.

Garcia and several others were indicted by a grand jury last year after a takedown of the ring in 2012 netted more than six pounds of bulk heroin, two pounds of heroin packaged for individual sale and more than $250,000 in cash.

Garcia pleaded guilty in December 2013 to possession of heroin with the intent to distribute. He won’t be eligible for parole for at least six years.
