NEast Philly has applied for a grant

Those of you interested in reading your neighborhood news – and maybe reporting on it – might be interested to hear that NEast Philly has applied for a grant with the Knight Foundation.

You can see our proposal here, which suggests that with a grant, NEast Philly editors would be able to rent a storefront, buy equipment and train people to become citizen journalists. Essentially, our readers who enjoy being active in their communities can become neighborhood correspondents.

You can rate or comment on the proposal if you like, but keep in mind these do not affect the foundation’s decision. They are simply a way to give feedback to the NEast Philly editors. In that sense, if there’s something you feel is missing from the proposal, tell us that. While we’re keeping our fingers crossed for the grant, the overall idea is to improve NEast Philly based on what the readers want to see. You can see all the grant applicants here.
