According to a recent poll, Mayor Michael Nutter’s highest approval rating is in the Northeast. The poll, done by Pew’s Philadelphia Research Initiative, has Nutter’s rating at 59 percent in this part of the city, while only 42 percent of North Philadelphians favor Nutter.

Community Various Northeast locations made the voting list for the “Best of Philly Beer Scene 2010.” The list comprises locales from all over the city, with the Northeast ranking in a few categories.
Northeast resident Tracy Tomchik-Nyszczot, 29, and her husband, Michael Nyszczot, are one of 14 couples to win SEPTA’s “Did you find love on SEPTA?” contest. The two met at Suburban station on the R7 platform, and incorporated SEPTA into their wedding, with tables named after local stations.

Donna Alullo and Joyce Widmaier, widows of murdered Loomis armored-van guards Joseph Alullo and William Widmaier, gave their testimonies Tuesday on the case against Mustafa Ali. The two men were murdered at Bustleton and Bleigh avenues in October 2007.
A year after his death, detectives are still trying to find information on the murder of Northeast lawyer Eric Birnbaum, who was shot in the back of the head by an unknown assailant outside the Terry D. Goldberg law firm where he worked on Buck Road in Richboro, Bucks County.
