Mt. Airy co-housing group plans move to converted church

Mt. Airy-based co-housing group, Wissahickon Village Cohousing, headed to the Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church on Tuesday to check out the space that local developer Ken Weinstein plans to renovate into 20 condo units. 

The church would be refurbished for continued congregational use. 

The co-housing group plans to move into the building when it is completed, making it the city’s first co-housing community.

“My husband and I are very excited to move into this cohousing community for our next stage of life. We will be living among a group of people who want to share resources and help each other out like good old-fashioned neighbors,” says Elayne Blender, a founding member of the group. 

The group currently has 13 active member households. The units are expected to go on sale in early 2015.
