Mt. Airy Bantams youths meet the Eagles, receive $4K football-equipment donation
The Mt. Airy Bantams youth-football program kicked their new season off in style.
On Monday afternoon, the team headed down to the NovaCare Complex in South Philadelphia for an event with a dual purpose.
They got a chance to watch the Philadelphia Eagles practice at the NFL franchise’s headquarters, meeting some players and collecting autographs along the way.
The players also showed off new uniforms made possible by the Eagles and Good Sports, a non-profit which aims to help “lay the foundation for healthy, active lifestyles by providing athletic equipment, footwear, and apparel to disadvantaged young people nationwide.”
The Bantams received a $4,000 worth of new helmets, shoulder pads, football and sideline markers.
It’s been a good time for football programs in Northwest Philadelphia, as the Martin Luther King High School’s Cougars squad recently received new uniforms and equipment, which came through a relationship with Dick’s Sporting Goods’ “Sports Matter” program.
