Montgomery County mosquito pool tests positive for West Nile Virus

Though no human cases have yet been confirmed, the Montgomery County Health Department has issued a press release stating that a test pool in Pottstown has tested positive for the West Nile Virus.

Tests were performed on 48 different pools, each with about 50 mosquitoes that are likely to carry and transmit the virus, reports Norristown Patch. This was the first pool to test positive this season.

In 2011 Montgomery County tested over 800 pools and found that 50 were positive for West Nile Virus.
