Mike Castle to give UD commencement address

Longtime Delaware Congressman Mike Castle will speak to graduates in Newark next month.

Castle, who lost the Republican primary for U.S. Senate to Christine O’Donnell last fall, will speak at the outdoor ceremony on Saturday morning, May 28th.

Vice president and university secretary Pete Hayward says Castle’s “distinguished career in public service has made him one of the most respected figures in American politics.”  Hayward continues, “His committment to service, his personal integrity and his love of Delaware make him an excellent choice to address the University’s newest graduates as they move into the next stage of their lives.”

Earlier this year, Castle donated his Congressional papers to the University of Delaware Library. Castle’s wife Jane is a UD alumna.
