Community media coverage of Green2015
NEastPhilly, an independent news site and partner of Metro writes that communites in the Northeast hoping to compliment Pennypack Park attended the fifth of six Green2015 meetings last week, events intended to collect public input on the creation of 500 acres of green space in Philadelphia.
In the Northeast, suggestions included planting grass in traffic islands, making use of existing buildings for “green pearls,” and providing space for wildlife.
University City Review attended the final Green2015 event, held last Tuesday at the Central Library.
“People who live in the community should be involved in the decision making,” said one resident. Another noted that street parks add variety to the typical steel-and-concrete urban environment.
Organizers say that they will develop core project principles from the public meetings, input that will be presented in November.
