Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels provides a helping hand
Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels is a nonprofit organization that provides food to those are no longer able to leave their homes because they are elderly or recuperating from an illness or surgery. This collection of photos shows Thomas, Diane, and Larry, who each began volunteering at Meals on Wheels in 2010, as they deliver food to residents of Chestnut Hill. One of the residents shown is Mike, a paraplegic client who has been receiving meals since spring of 2011. Joe is a widower who also struggles with mobility as a result of several health issues. He has been getting food through Meals on Wheels for over a year, and also appears in the series of photos.The headquarters Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels is at 8765 Stenton Ave. in Wyndmoor at the Keystone House. It relocated here from the Chestnut Hill Hospital to take advantage of a modern kitchen and improve the meals that were being served. Since then clients have increased from 17 to 35. Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels delivers two fresh meals to its clients Monday through Friday throughout the year including holidays. The Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels volunteers provide a helpful service to the community who find it difficulty in leaving their homes.
