Washington Avenue Green Volunteer Cleanup Day

Saturday, March 10, 8:30am-Noon. Washington Avenue Green, Washington Avenue and Columbus Boulevard. Meet up at 8:30 in the Sheet Metal Workers parking lot before heading out to help get Washington Avenue Green ready for spring. Don’t forget: all volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and long pants. Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby Design + Build Workshop

Saturday, March 10, Noon-3pm. Frank’s Kitchens, 1581 N. Randolph Street. If you have dreams of participating in the Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby on May 19, head over to Frank’s Kitchens to learn about building kinetic sculptures, the Derby and meet comrades in creative arms.

West Philly Tool Library Garage Sale and Tool Drive

Sunday, March 11, 9am-1pm. West Philly Tool Library, 1314 S. 47th Street. Shop the Tool Library’s fourth annual garage sale and find hand tools starting at $1. If you’ve got tools that you want to get rid of (especially power tools) bring ‘em along. Donations to the Tool Library are tax deductible. Free.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Sunday, March 11, 11am. Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Watch thousands of participants parade their Irish pride down the Parkway. This year’s parade includes more than 150 groups, from marching bands and dance groups to floats and Irish associations. This year’s Grand Marshal is none other than John Dougherty of IBEW Local 98. Free.
