Hello Streeters! Here are a few events to take your mind off of this weekend’s dreary weather forecast.  

WATCH: TEDxPhiladelphia viewing party

Friday, March 28. 8:30am – 6pm. Impact HUB, 1227 N. 4th Street. Didn’t get tickets to sold out TEDxPhiladelphia conference today? No problem. Generocity is hosting a viewing party at its new home, Impact HUB. Doors opened at 8:30am, and the live stream is expected to run until around 6pm. Impact HUB will have refreshments, including complimentary lunch catered by Chipotle. Free

SHOP: South Street Headhouse District Fourth Friday

Friday, March 29. 5pm-9pm. 4th Street from Lombard to Queen streets. The South Street Headhouse District’s Fourth Friday returns for its spring season today. Independent businesses including shops, salons, galleries and restaurants from Lombard to Queen streets will stay open after-hours. Free

EXPLORE: TEDx South Bank Tour

Saturday, March 29. 9:45am – 12pm. Bus leaves from 36th and Walnut. In partnership with TEDxPhiladelphia, PlanPhilly and Penn are offering a behind-the-scenes tour of Penn’s South Bank campus – a former DuPont lab complex that’s been transformed into an innovation hub for groups like the PennVet Working Dogs Center, greenhouse researchers, KMel Robotics and more. Tickets online, Cost: $10

TRASH TALK: Wade into the Waste Stream

Saturday, March 29. 9:30am – 2:30pm. Bus departs from Front and Chestnut Streets. Explore Waste Management and Revolution Recovery, one of Philadelphia’s waste management facilities, with Temple Contemporary this weekend. The tour is planned in conjunction with Temple Contemporary’s Funeral for a Home, a reflection on the nearly 600 homes that are demolished in Philadelphia each year. Free

Play: Smith Memorial Playground spring kick off

Saturday, March 29. 12pm – 3pm. Smith Memorial Playground, 3500 Reservoir Drive. Philadelphia play institution Smith Memorial Playground kicks off its 2014 season with Play-A-Palooza on Saturday. Families are invited to play on the much-loved playground, participate in arts and crafts, experiment with science, visit a mobile farm and more. Cost: $10-per-child. Rain date: Sunday, March 30.

SEE: Art-Centric Book Fair

Saturday, March 29 – Sunday, March 30. 12pm – 6pm. Philadelphia Photo Arts Center, 1400 N. American Street, Suite 103. The Philadelphia Photo Arts Center will draw more than a dozen vendors for this weekend’s art-focussed book fair. Don’t miss out on the impressive list of artist talks and book signings or on pop-up exhibitions. Pay as you go.
