Manayunk’s StrEAT festivals draws thousands to Main Street

Over 40,000 visitors and 50 food trucks and vendors lined Main Street in Manayunk on Saturday for the Manayunk StrEAT Food Festival.

Philadelphia’s best food trucks and local restaurants offered high quality gourmet foods, with everything from spicy tacos and savory barbecue to sweet desserts and fruity drinks. Street vendors sold homemade oils, soaps, spices and jams.

In addition to eating and shopping, visitors enjoyed live music performances, face painting for the kids and a friendly neighborhood atmosphere accommodated by warm spring weather.

This year, participating vendors had the task of highlighting the chosen spring ingredient — strawberry. The chosen winner was Humpty Dumplings’ strawberry cheesecake dumpling.

The festival also kicks off Manayunk’s Restaurant Week, which runs from April 13 through April 24.

“Manayunk StrEAT Festival is a way to start off the Restaurant Week with great food,” said Shannon Geddes of the Manayunk Development Corporation. “Having one of the first festivals of the season is great for Manayunk and it’s great to see everyone involved in it. I think our whole community loves it.”
