Manayunk’s 4th of July parade in photos

The annual Independence Day Parade kicked off at the corner of Manayunk and Lyceum avenues on Monday morning with music, classic cars and plenty of locals sporting their best patriotic ensembles.

Veterans gathered on Lyceum Avenue to celebrate America’s birthday while children hopped in the passenger seats of antique cars for a quick spin in the neighborhood spotlight.

The parade is a tribute to a sunday school teacher from 180 years ago named Samuel Lawson who organized the first marching procession and picnics in the neighborhood.
