Man shot dead at west Philly gas station lot

Police say a man was shot to death at a west Philadelphia gas station.

Investigators said three men were standing in the parking lot of the Gulf station in the city’s Wynnefield neighborhood shortly before midnight Tuesday.

Police said a fourth man approached and an argument began, after which he opened fire, hitting one man in the back and shoulder as he tried to flee. A second man fled into the station and the third is unaccounted for.

The shooting victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are examining surveillance video that captured some of the events. They are also searching for the victim’s sport utility vehicle and trying to determine whether the suspect or the third friend drove it away from the scene.
