Man displayed handgun in Toms River bank robbery Thursday morning, police say
Authorities are investigating a Thursday morning bank robbery in Toms River.
At 10:05 a.m., a white man entered the PNC Bank at 9 Wrangle Brook Drive, displayed a black semiautomatic handgun, and demanded money, according to Ralph Stocco, Toms River Police Department spokesman.
The suspect, who took an undetermined amount of cash, fled east on Route 37 in a small black sport utility vehicle with light window tints and out of state license plates, Stocco said, adding that the man may not be an area resident since he did not cover his face or wear a disguise.
Police describe the suspect as between 5-feet, 7-inches and 5-feet, 8-inches with black hair, wearing a blue button-down shirt, long black coat, and a large ring on his left hand.
