Making it easier to preserve farmland

The USDA issues new rules to make protecting farm lands easier.

The Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program final rule simplifies the easement process. Now, purchasers of development rights can get certified quicker, and will have more flexibility in managing the process.

Since it started in 1996, the Delaware Natural Resources Conservation Service has enrolled about 22,000 acres into the preservation program.
