Kane sets Wednesday news conference

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane plans to take reporters’ questions Wednesday, days after she was arraigned on charges including perjury.
Kane has said she’s innocent and will not resign, but she did not address the media when she turned herself in on Saturday.
Spokesman Chuck Ardo said he does not know if Kane plans to introduce new information in light of charges filed against her.
“There had been an agreement between the district attorney’s office and the attorney general’s lawyers that neither side would make comments during the course of the investigation,” said Ardo. “But, now the attorney general has been charged, I think she feels that it’s time for her to make more of her story known.”
Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman’s office could not immediately confirm that there was such an agreement with Kane.
Ferman charged Kane Thursday with leaking secret investigative material to a newspaper and then lying about it to a grand jury. In charging documents, prosecutors say Kane had two confidants cull the emails of her office’s employees to stay abreast of the work of the grand jury investigating her.
The governor has called for Kane’s resignation. Legislative leaders are contemplating impeachment.
