Investigations of suspended Philadelphia priests continue

The 26 priests suspended from cleric practices earlier this year following charges against a handful of other clergy members are still under investigation.

More than 500 priests in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia have received an update on the status of the probe, which involves allegations and suspicions of abuse by the 26 clerics.

The Inquirer obtained the memo, which says the investigations will wrap up “over the next several months.” Until the results are announced, the suspended priests cannot celebrate mass, administer sacraments or return to their parishes.
