Injured Delaware councilman home for the holidays

There’s no place like home for Sussex County Councilman Vance Phillips, who’s been away for more than a month following a back-breaking injury.

The councilman shattered his T12 vertebra back in October, after crashing his hang glider-like aircraft in Virginia. Since then, he’s been working his way back to health at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia.

“I am eternally grateful to the good folks of Sussex County for their countless prayers that have sustained me during this phase of my recovery,” Phillips said. “Sussex Countians take care of their own, and I am blessed to call Sussex my home.”

Phillips returned to his home in Laurel late Tuesday afternoon, and just in time for the holidays.
