How a councilman’s zoning code amendments would affect the proposed Holmesburg methadone clinic

City Council will address the zoning code reform this session, looking to pass the changes that have been in the works for years.

Councilman-at-large Bill Green has issued a memo outlining 10 amendments he wants made to the new code to impact the way it’s implemented. One amendment in particular deals with an ongoing issue in Holmesburg.

If the methadone clinic proposed for the 7900-block of Frankford Avenue had been proposed after these amendments were in place, here’s the way Green sees the process going:

“Eliminate methadone clinics from the Medical, Dental, Health Practitioner subcategory and separately regulate methadone clinics.”

He detailed the amendment in an exclusive interview with PlanPhilly, which you can see more of here. Read all about the Zoning Code Commission and its work here.
