How 10 New Jersey school construction projects were chosen
What makes a school worthy of renovation? Money has a lot to do with it. New Jersey Schools Development Authority CEO Marc Larkins said as much yesterday to the Assembly Legislative Committee, which questioned how the SDA chose 10 schools for construction projects out of more than 100.
As Phil Gregory reported for WHYY, things like overcrowding and the condition of the existing school building were considered in the process, but in some cases, cost factored into the decision.
NewsWorks partner NJ Spotlight gave two examples of projects up for SDA consideration. One was chosen; the other not.
