Help clean up Wissahickon Creek this weekend
The warm weather is finally upon us, which means it’s time to clean out those closets, plant some fresh flowers in the front yard and help spruce up your local parks, trails and creeks for the season.
This Saturday marks the 41st anniversary of the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association’s annual Creek Clean Up. The event, co-sponsored by the Friends of the Wissahickon, runs from 9 a.m. to noon this year.
Volunteers will be on hand to help pick up trash along all 21 miles of the Wissahickon Creek, along with the surrounding trails and tributaries. Participants can expect to pick up anything from plastic bags to swing sets.
Anyone interested in volunteering should register at www.fow.org and meet at the pavilion along Forbidden Drive, just south of the intersection of Forbidden Drive and Northwestern Avenue.
