Harlem Globetrotters in Tacony spreading awareness about cancer, bullying [video]

Two members of the Harlem Globetrotter’s basketball team walked across the Tacony Palmyra Bridge this afternoon to speak to students at Planet Abacus Charter School.

Teammates Fatima “TNT” Maddox and Brawley “Cheese” Chisholm  dribbled and spun pink basketballs from N.J. to Philly to kick off the team’s season-long campaign against breast cancer.  Maddox is a Temple University graduate and the only woman on the Globetrotters.  Chisholm was a basketball star at Cherokee High School in Marlton, N.J,. and is called “Chesse” because he never stops smiling.

At Planet Abacus Charter, the duo performed tricks and spoke to students about the role of hard work in pursuing their dreams.  They also taught students the “ABCs of Bullying Prevention,” a nationwide program of the Globetrotters.

Today’s event kicks off “Globetrotter Week” in Philly.  Team members will be appearing in area schools and the team will play four games from March 8th-10th.  For more information about game times, visit www.HarlemGlobetrotters.com.
