Gov. Markell visits prison education program

Governor Markell will tour the education center at Howard Young Prison in Wilmington.

The educational unit at the prison was transformed from a traditional housing unit to a full-time education unit last September. 60 inmates live on the tier and spend their waking hours on education. They only get breaks for recreation time, visits, and medical appointments. Other inmates and volunteers from the community work as tutors.
