Game of Thrones star attends first Philadelphia Renaissance Fair

Philadelphia hosted its first Renaissance Faire this past weekend. The organizers of the two-day event say it is the only one to be held inside the boundaries of a major American city.

During the fair, about 40 actors were on-script, playing out a fictional narrative while mingling among fair-goers. Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, who plays The Mountain on “Game of Thrones,” was the star attraction. He performed feats of strength, lifting a 275-pound cement ball and throwing it over a hurdle many times.

Hair braiding, Elizabethan games, theatre and harp playing were among the many activities for participants to enjoy.

Organizers see this fair as a preview of a larger fair to be produced next summer, which they plan to have for three consecutive weekends.
