Gallery: Hundreds plunge in Manasquan for ALS

A looming storm, frigid air, and a sea temperature around the freezing mark didn’t deter the hundreds who jumped into the Atlantic Ocean off Manasquan today at the 9th annual Valentine Plunge for ALS.

All proceeds benefit the Joan Dancy and PALS Foundation — a Red Bank-based organization formed in 2005 by Terry Magovern in honor of Joan Dancy, his late fiancé, after she succumbed to ALS — and staytough. fightHARD. Inc., a Manasquan-based organization also engaged in the ALS fight.

Participants raised approximately $302,000 for the battle against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a rapidly progressive neurological disease, according to Joan Dancy and PALS Foundation president Sean Magovern.
