Funding approved to deepen Nanticoke River

The Army Corps of Engineers will use more than $1.8-million to dredge the Nanticoke River from the Delaware-Maryland state line to Seaford.
The funding announcement is part of a plan to maintain the river, which is an important passageway for barge traffic in and out of western Sussex County.  The dredging will restore the depth of the river’s main channel to 12 feet.  The Nanticoke hasn’t been dredged since 1990.
