Ft. Monmouth marks another step towards its final shut down.
The New Jersey military operation is part of the Base Realignment and Closure Commission mandate to move operations to the Abderdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. New Castle County officials are working to convince those moving to the Cecil County, MD. operation that New Castle and specificially the Newark area is a good place to move and also set up support businesses.
Today is the final service in the Ft. Monmouth chapel. The base officially closes on September 15th.
