Start spreading the news.

The New Jersey town across the river from the city that never sleeps has launched its Frank Sinatra centennial celebration.

Sinatra was born in Hoboken on Dec. 12, 1915.

A Sinatra Idol contest takes place Thursday. That will be followed by a variety of other music events throughout the weekend.

Hoboken also plans a birthday concert in December.

The singer and actor was 82 when he died in 1998.
