Fourth Annual RiverCity Festival
The Fishtown Neighbors Association is very proud to present the 4th Annual RiverCity Festival on Saturday, October 1st, 2011, from 12-5pm at historic, Penn Treaty Park. The RiverCity Festival reinforces friendships in our community, promotes exciting local businesses, and showcases what makes Fishtown stand out as a neighborhood with a tremendous history and vibrancy.
We will kick off the day with a 5K fun run hosted by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation. This run will begin and end at Penn Treaty Park with the duration winding through the historic streets of Fishtown. Once the runners return from their scenic run, they will be able to enjoy the musical sounds all afternoon on our mainstage by the West Philadelphia Orchestra, York Street Hustle, Gina Ferrera, and Fishtown’s own Mummers, the Duffy String Band. There will also be a historical performance from the descendents of the Lenni-Lenape tribe.
One of our favorite sponsors, Hahnemann University Hospital will return to the festival this year, bringing the highly successful RiverCity Wellness tent. Visit the tent to get information from medical professionals and on-site health screenings.
Local vendors are in full support of the festival, displaying a wide array of arts and crafts. It will certainly be exhilarating to see what these talented Philadelphia area residents have concocted for Festival visitors to enjoy and purchase.
There will be a great assortment of food options from Fishtown area restaurants, including Bubba’s BBQ, Hinge Café, Mandi’s Homemade Sausage, as well as fabulous homemade desserts from Johnny Brenda’s.
The RCF is excited to add a few new features this year including a Beer Garden with donation, provided by the Philadelphia Brewing Company and from our sister neighborhood in Brooklyn, Sixpoint Craft Ales.
A new thrilling event has been added to the RiverCity Festival as well – A good spirited competition between local bars and restaurants in the first annual RCF Volleyball Tournament! Teams from Frankford Hall, Johnny Brendas, Kraftwork and Barbary are amongst the local establishments who will be sponsoring and organizing teams of employees and patrons to compete in our brand new event.
The whole family will be able to participate in our free family fun area with games and contests. The family fun area also includes an inflatable rock wall, moon bounce, inflatable obstacle course and much, much more!
