While the Wilmington-based chemical giant recently ended its decades long sponsorship of NASCAR star Jeff Gordon, the company has a new star to represent their brand in Elena Delle Donne.

DuPont’s NASCAR sponsorship was focused on it’s performance coatings business that’s since been sold to Axalta, the Delle Donne sponsorship will help promote the company’s nutrition and health business.

“We’re eager to work with Elena to bring attention to the importance of good nutrition as a gateway to good health,” said DuPont’s Nutrition and Health president Craig Binetti.  “This is a great match for DuPont and particularly the Nutrition and Health business which focuses on delivering food ingredients that are packed with nutrition, improving health and providing great taste.”

It was a natural fit for Delle Donne.  “While DuPont is a global company, they’re headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware. That’s my hometown, which makes this association especially meaningful to me.”  She added, “I am really looking forward to partnering with DuPont to bring attention to topics I care about so much.

Delle Donne’s star has continued to rise since she was selected as the number two pick in the WNBA draft by the Chicago Sky earlier this year.  That was just a few weeks after leading the University of Delaware women’s basketball team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.  She was just named WNBA Rookie of the Month for June.

DuPont joins Nike and Genesis Today as officials sponsors for Delle Donne.
