Food Bank of Delaware gets potatoes from train involved in accident

An accident that spilled a load of potatoes in Milford proves to be a windfall for the Food Bank of Delaware.

The accident occurred Sunday when a tractor trailer slammed into a train carrying the spuds in Milford.  No one was hurt and the driver was cited.

According to the Food Bank, crews with the Delaware Department of Transportation managed to salvage many of the potatoes that spilled onto Route 113.

Many others had to be dumped, but the Food Bank says its volunteers will spend the next few days sorting through potatoes that were deemed fit for consumption.
