Fire breaks out at Mt. Airy senior housing complex

A fire broke out on the eighth-story of a nine-story apartment building in Mt. Airy around 9:40 a.m. today. 

The fire was extinguished by 10:28 a.m. according to Chief Clifford Gilliam of the Philadelphia Fire Department. 

One occupant was transported to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. There were no other reported injuries. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
