Fewer Delawareans plan a trip this 4th of July weekend, according to a survey

Although gas prices have dropped substantially in the past few weeks, a survey finds that fewer Delawareans are planning a trip this 4th of July weekend.

AAA Midatlantic says over 100,000 Delawareans, or about 11.4% of the state’s population, plan to travel 50 miles or more from home this weekend, a decline of 2.6% from a year ago.  Gas prices are still higher than a year ago but have slid back steadily after reaching $4-a-gallon earlier this spring.  52% of holiday travelers in Delaware are making their way to the beaches.  Delaware resorts are expecting big business, with 20-million Americans within a day’s drive and a sunny, hot forecast.
