‘Empty Bowls’ raises spoonfuls of cash for North Light

It was a soup buffet of sorts at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Roxborough last weekend, and it was all for a good cause.

Parishioners of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church joined forces with volunteers at North Light Community Center and Villanova University to raise money for the Manayunk community center through this year’s ‘Empty Bowls’ fundraiser.

Over the past few months, the group made 120 ceramic bowls to be used for a soup dinner at the church last Saturday. With each person’s $10 donation, and a few extra donations along the way, North Light was able to raise more than $1,300 for its food cupboard.
